CITY OF SAN MARCOS ELECTRIC RULES AND REGULATIONS <br />A service agreement is a request for service and does not in itself obligate the city to serve <br />the customer nor does it bind the customer to take service for a longer period than the <br />minimum requirement of the schedule under, which service is to be taken. For each <br />service connection the applicant will be required to make a cash deposit with the City in <br />accordance with the provisions as set forth in these Rules and Regulations and Rate <br />Schedule - Deposit. <br />B. Residential <br />Application for service may be made by fax, online through the City website, or at the <br />designated electric utility office of the city. Each applicant will be required to sign a <br />service agreement for service on a form provided by the City. <br />C. General Service <br />Application for service must be made in writing upon a form provided by the city <br />containing complete details of the type of service. Each applicant will be required to sign <br />or accept (Online) a service agreement for service on a form provided by the City. <br />D. Extensions of Service <br />When service is requested at a location where the City does not have facilities available, <br />or the facilities available are not adequate or suitable for the service requested, the City <br />will establish service only in accordance with its Distribution Line Extension Policy. <br />DEPOSITS <br />A. Application <br />Each applicant for service, excluding government agencies, will be required to <br />make a cash deposit with the city to establish or re- establish credit before service <br />will be rendered. <br />B. Amount of Deposit <br />(1) The required deposit for residential and general services customers shall <br />be the greater of: <br />a. $50.00 or <br />b. an amount equivalent to one -sixth (1/6) of either the estimated <br />annual billings to that service location or an estimated annual <br />billing to similar dwellings or services. <br />(2) The city may require a deposit sufficient to reasonably protect it against <br />the assumed risk of temporary, weekend, or personal service; provided such <br />policy is applied in a uniform and non - discriminatory manner. <br />These deposits shall be returned according to guidelines set out in subsection G. <br />below. <br />C.
