Systems Ramona Brown <br />Also Present: Joe Cox, Jane Wilson, Patty Wenk, Richard Dotson, <br />Rachel Vasquez, Henry Kyle, Mary Gonzales, Jane Hughson, Melissa <br />Millecam, John Wade, Janace Wade, Jerry Romero, Jim Gandy, Rose <br />Brooks, Johnnie Armstead, Bill Coddington, Mike Martin, Clarence <br />Miller, Larry Brinkmeyer, Ron Hart, Dan Gibson, Lupe Carbajahl, <br />Jenny Kile, Peggy Byas, Vicky Hardin and others. <br />Mayor Morris called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of two <br />appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission to complete <br />vacancies. Mr. Brown moved to appoint Nina Pryatel from the <br />Planning Commission and Mayor Morris seconded the motion. Mr. <br />Plummer moved to appoint Ken Kohut as a Member who has <br />demonstrated an interest in the history of San Marcos and Mr. <br />Hernandez seconded the motion. On rolL call Mrs. pryatel and Mr. <br />Kohut were approved unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of an <br />appointment to the Sunset Advisory Commission to complete a <br />vacancy. The Commission advised the Council they did not feel it <br />would be necessary for the Council to fill the vacancy, as they <br />are in the process of completing their final report to the <br />Council, so it was the consensus of Council to leave the position <br />vacant. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of an <br />appointment to the Commission for Minorities to complete a <br />vacancy. Ms. Kissler moved to appoint Kathy Springs Matlock and <br />Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration confirmation of the <br />City Manager's appointment to the Personnel Appeals Board. Mr. <br />Hernandez moved to confirm Mr. Gilley's appointment of Leslie <br />Perez and Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Morris introduced a discussion regarding changing the name <br />of Gravel Street to Rubio Street in honor of long-time SanM~rcos <br />resident, Macario Rubio. Mayor Morris advised the public a <br />notice was to have appeared in the San Marcos Daily Record on <br />March 26 and the newspaper inadvertently left the notice out. <br />Ray Leal stated he was in favor of changing the name of Gravel <br />Street to Rubio Street to honor Mr. Rubio who has been a <br />long-time resident of San Marcos, has educated his children here <br />and is a veteran. He stated the request is to change the name of <br />Gravel Street to Rubio Street for just the South portion of <br />Gravel with Mitchell Street being the dividing point. Mr. Leal <br />* Mr. Moore was present at 8:15 p.m. <br />** Mr. Hankins was not present at this meeting. <br />
