City Council Meeting Minutes July 15, 2014 <br />IV. PRESENTATIONS <br />3. Receive a Staff presentation and update on the Downtown Reconstruction Phase I, <br />and provide direction to Staff. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Guerrero, seconded by Council Member Scott, that this <br />Presentation be postponed. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Guerrero, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak, Council Member Thomason, <br />Council Member Scott, Council Member Prather and Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 1 - Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides <br />4. Receive a Staff presentation and hold discussion regarding Code SMTX, the rewrite of <br />the Land Development Code, and direction to Staff. <br />A motion was made by Mayor Guerrero, seconded by Council Member Scott, that this <br />Presentation be postponed. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />For: 6 - Mayor Guerrero, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Becak, Council Member Thomason, <br />Council Member Scott, Council Member Prather and Council Member Prewitt <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 1 - Mayor Pro -Tem Thomaides <br />6:00 PM <br />V. Invocation <br />A moment of silence was observed in lieu of an invocation this evening. <br />VI. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br />Council Member Thomaides led the pledges this evening. <br />VIII. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Patrick Rose, addressed the council in support of this La Cima project. He believes that there <br />are people that don't want anything to happen on this acreage. He believes that this Project is <br />transformative for this Region and for this City. 12 months ago this Council directed that the <br />City would not provide a financing mechanism, and now the County has offered to fill that role. <br />Lance Spuriell, addressed the Council in support of the La Cima development. <br />Dan Stauffer, addressed the Council in support of the La Cima development and hopes that we <br />are all in agreement that this project is a great benefit to this community. He is most excited <br />about the corporate campus which has the potential to vastly increase our tax base. He <br />understands that the deferred annexation and the County's PID have the Council concerned but <br />this is something that we need to move past. <br />Sam Huenergardt, addressed the Council regarding the hardship of finding a home in the city. <br />He explained the hiring process and treatment of patients at CTMC and stated that they take <br />City of San Marcos Page 2 <br />
