comply with all of these requirements and to enter into dis-
cussions with appropriate parties, including city government
when required to clarify issues related to such reporting. As
a private entity, however, CTEC will also deal with information
which is proprietary, customer-sensitive, government restricted
and/or competitive. The. company will use this type of informa-
tion for internal business purposes.
8. What are some other joint ventures GE, one of CTEC's parent
companies, has participated in, and what are their records?
As reported in aerospace literature, a very successful joint
venture that involves GE Aircraft Engines is one with SNECMA,
a French engine manufacturer. The joint venture, called CFM
International, is recognized as a major international engine
supplier and will hopefully become a CTEC customer. CFM
International builds many of the most successful commercial
jet engines in use today.
9. Why was the Victory Gardens not included in the enterprise
zone?
CTEC defers to local government officials on this question.
10. Why isn't CTEC going through normal channels to locate its
facility here, and why were county commissioners not notified?
Again, CTEC defers to local officials.
II. What was the reason CTEC was formed?
CTEC was developed to meet a demanq in the jet engine market.
In the interest of reduced weight leading to improved operating
efficiency, the aerospace industry has, over the past several
years, moved away from metal to lighter but similarly strong
composite materials. In the past few years, technology has
developed composite materials which can withstand the higher
temperatures associated with engine operation~ So it ~s now
possible to reduce engine weight and improve efficiency with
composite material engine components. The market for these
products lS expected to develop substantially in the next decade.
CTEC's parent companies have the technology to manufacture and
the requirements for composite engine components. Combining
both companies' resources by forminq CTEC creates a set of
circumstances which should permit CTEC to be a business success
by serving engine manufacturers worldwide, thus meeting an
aerospace industry demand.
