When the "ordinary compaction" method <br /> is specified, the following provisions shall apply: depth, and shall <br /> be compacted until there is no evidence of further compaction, in <br /> accordance with provisions governing ttrolling." Prior to and in <br /> conjunction with the rolling operation, each layer shall be brought <br /> to the moisture content ordered by the engineer, and shall be <br /> kept leveled with suitable equipment to ensure uniform compac- <br /> tion over the entire layer. (Ord. No. 1984-71, § 2, 6-13-84; Ord. <br /> No. 1987-144, Pt. 10,11-9-87) <br /> Sec. 5-127. Flexible base. <br /> (a) Generally. Flexible base shall consist of a foundation course <br /> of six (6) inches for surface course or other base courses; shall be <br /> composed of crushed stone or other stone materials; and shall be <br /> constructed as herein specified in one (1) or more courses in <br /> conformity with the typical sections shown on plans and/or grades <br /> established by the engineer. <br /> (b) MateriaL The material shall consist of argillaceous lime- <br /> stone, calcareous or calcareous clay particles, with or without stone, <br /> conglomerate, gravel, sand or other granular materials. The mate- <br /> rial shall be a graded material such that it has sufficient fine <br /> material to bind the base. The material sources shall be approved <br /> by the engineer. <br /> (c) Construction methods. Immediately before placing the base <br /> material, the subgrade shall be checked as to conformity with <br /> grade and section. <br /> Materials deposited upon the sub grade shall be spread and <br /> shaped the same day unless otherwise directed by the engineer in <br /> writing. In the event inclement weather or other unforeseen <br /> circumstances render impractical the spreading of the material <br /> during the first twenty-four-hour period, the material shall be <br /> scarified and spread as directed by the engineer. The material <br /> shall be sprinkled, if directed, and shall then be bladed, dragged <br /> Supp. No. 22 250.21 <br />
