If additional binder is considered <br /> desirable or necessary after the material is spread and shaped, it <br /> shall be furnished and applied in the amount directed by the <br /> engineer. Such binder material shall be harrowing, brooming or <br /> by other approved methods. <br /> When the plans indicate that the "ordinary compaction" method <br /> is to be used, the following provision shall apply: The course shall <br /> be sprinkled as required and rolled as directed until a uniform <br /> compaction is secured. Throughout this entire operation, the shape <br /> of the course shall be maintained by blading, and the surface <br /> upon completion shall be smooth and in conformity with the <br /> typical sections shown on plans and to the established lines and <br /> grades. In that area on which pavement is to be placed, any <br /> deviation in excess of one-fourth (~) inch in cross section and in a <br /> length of sixteen (16) feet measured longitudinally shall be cor- <br /> rected by loosening, sadding or removing material, reshaping <br /> and recompacting by sprinkling and rolling to avoid ponding of <br /> water. All irregularities, depressions or weak spots which de- <br /> velop shall be corrected immediately by scarifying the areas af- <br /> fected, adding suitable material as required, reshaping and <br /> recompacting by sprinkling and rolling. This item shall consist of a pave- <br /> ment and/or base of portland cement concrete, with reinforce- <br /> ment as shown on plans, with or without monolithic curbs, con- <br /> structed as herein specified on the prepared subgrade or other <br /> base course in conforn:Qty with the thickness and typical cross- <br /> sections shown on plans and to the lines and grades established <br /> by the engineer. Concrete shall be considered of satisfactory quality <br /> provided it is made (1) of materials accepted for the job, (2) in <br /> proportions established by the engineer, and (3) mixed, placed, <br /> finished and cured in accordance with standard requirements <br /> utilized in proper concrete construction. <br /> Supp. No. 22 250.22 <br />
