skew to centerline. The Engineer will measure the size, length and type of pipe. Finally,
the Engineer will obtain flow line elevations of existing culverts and ditches and center
of driveway or roadway elevations.
13. Field surveys are required for the establishment of a horizontal base line and benchmark
circuit for the Project, horizontal and vertical ties of critical existing facilities and features,
including features influencing existing streets and driveways, and of the existing right -of-
way lines. The Engineer will stake in the field P.I.'s, P.O.T.'s, P.C.'s and P.T.'s for the
approved centerline alignment.
C. Utility Coordination
The Engineer will:
Identify potential utility conflicts with the survey and summarize in the PER. Detailed
utility coordination such as obtaining record drawings, utility coordination and liaison
activities, and developing a utility conflict matrix will not be completed in this scope of work.
Areas that may need additional coordination or SUE work will be identified in the PER to be
further investigated in the design phase.
D. Traffic Analysis
The Engineer will:
1. Complete a traffic analysis to evaluate traffic operations and proposed alternative concepts
at the intersection of Pat Garrison Street and Fredericksburg Street.
3. Conduct a field review of the existing roadways, within the study area limits, to note
and verify lane configurations, speeds, roadway geometrics and observe existing traffic
operations on the study area network to note operational problems and existing traffic
patterns.
4. Conduct peak hour traffic data collection to consist of peak hour and daily traffic
volumes to document existing traffic demand and patterns in the area immediately
impacted by the Project as follows:
a) AM (7:00 -9:00) and PM (4:00 -6:00) peak hour turning movement counts will be
collected at the intersection of Pat Garrison Street and Fredericksburg Road.
b) 24 -hour traffic volume counts will be conducted on Pat Garrison Street.
5. Utilizing available traffic projection information and counts collected as part of the study
develop forecasted (2020) traffic volumes for the intersections in the study area.
CITY HALL • 630 EAST HOPKINS • SAN MARCOS, TExAs 78666.512.393.8150 • FACSIMILE 512.393.3983
SANMARCOSTX.GOV
6j
