weather. They need to become more organized. Only two
questionnaires rerorned. Both members stated they would like to
be re-appointed to this commission.
Recommendation: The name of this board should be changed to
Plumbing Board.
San Marcos Electric Utility Board

Visited by Patty Sullivan, November 14, 1988 and March 20, 1989
Problems reported: None
Sunset recommendation: We question a luncheon meeting. No other
commission has lunch provided; others pay for meal.
San Marcos Industrial Development Corporation Board

To our knowledge this board did not meet during this period.
Sunset Recommendations: Assign the duties of this board to the
Main Streets Advisory Board or Electrical Board with appropriate
experts assigned to the combined board or abolish the board.
Senior Citizens Advisory Board

Visited by Bennie Blansett on February l4, 1989.
Problems reported by. the Board: Need more money and assistance
from either the City or County to meet the needs of the ever
increasing senior citizen population.
Observation: This Board was established by resolution, however,
all other City boards and commissions have been established by
ordinance; Question: Should an ordinance be passed for this
Board. The establishing resolution assigned the Director of Parks
and Recreation and the Executive Director of the Community Action
Program as ex-officio, non-voting members of the Board. The
Community Action Executive Director, Ms. Ofelia T. Vasquez, is
commended for her outstanding support of this Board. However, it
did not appear that the Parks and Recreation Director was actively
involved in Board activities.
Sunset recommendation: Board members are only appointed for two
years; recommend future members be appointed for a term of three
years.
Tourist Development Council

Visited by Patty Sullivan and B. Blansett on November 15, 1988
Problems reported: None
Sunset recommendation: None
Commission for Women

Visited by John Munoz in November, 1988.
Observation: The commission has interesting worthy causes and the
interaction between members is constructive. The commission or
the City should look at other facets, possibly outside sources, to
publicize the commission's good intentions for the benefit of the
public.
Sunset recommendation: None
