<br />SUNSET ADVISORY REPORT - 1988-1989 <br /> GENERAL OBSERVATIONS <br /> <br /> The Sunset Commission members were favorably impressed with <br />the hard work and dedication of the members of all the active <br />boards and commissions and all boards and commissions should be <br />commended. <br /> The Council should continue to make an effort to appoint <br />people to boards and commissions who have some expertise or <br />interest in the area with which the board or commission is <br />concerned, particularly if the ordinance creating the board or <br />commission requires that the members. have expertise or interest. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />Dissolution or Merger <br /> <br /> The Sunset Commission recommends dissolution or activation <br />(meetings at least yearly) of the following boards and commissions <br />that have not met in the past three years: <br /> Storm Drainage Advisory Board <br /> Minority Business Enterprise Airport Committee <br /> San Marcos Industrial Development Corporation <br /> Reinvestment Zone Number One-JASBA <br />The Sunset Commission recommends activating the Joint Airport <br />Zoning Board. <br />The Sunset Commission recommends the merger of the following <br />boards and commissions: <br /> The Fair Housing Commission should be combined with the <br /> Housing Authority or the Human Services Advisory Board. <br /> The Building Code Board of Adjustments and Appeals and the <br /> Mechanical Board of Adjustment and Appeals should be combined <br /> into one board for adjustments and appeals. <br />No Changes <br /> <br /> The Sunset Commission has no recommendations concerning the <br />following boards and commissions: <br /> Airport Commission <br /> City Cemetery Commission <br /> Civil Service <br /> Electrical Board (San Marcos) <br /> Ethics Commission <br /> Library Board <br /> Commission for Minorities <br /> Personnel Appeals Board <br /> Tourist Development Council <br /> Commission for Women <br />
