Regular Meeting June 19, 2007 Page 13 <br />Mr. Thomaides thanked the Planning and Zoning Commission for their hard <br />work. He stated he watches the Planning and Zoning Commission, he stated <br />they run professionally and you try to incorporate a common ground. Mr. <br />O'Leary stated there has not been a vote taken on these projects. Mayor <br />Narvaiz stated she feels the Beautification Commission should review <br />project 4. Mr. Jones inquired to the process to get a project on the CIP <br />list. Mr. O'Leary stated most of the projects that appear are suggested by <br />City Staff. He stated the Planning and Zoning Commission held public <br />hearings which allowed public input. He stated that after the public <br />hearings, the Planning and Zoning Commission provides their recommendation <br />for the projects in the CIP, and then the Council decides during the budget <br />process. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding City Council team building <br />training and direction to Staff. Mr. Jones stated he had received <br />information on ropes program used in team building. He provided the <br />Council with a handout regarding some low ropes items. He stated he would <br />also like to invite other government entities to participate on the second <br />day. He stated he feels the Council is in need of team and relationship <br />building. He stated he has spoken with Commissioner Ingalsbe, who stated <br />she would be willing to take this to Commissioners Court. Mr. Guerrero <br />stated he feels there should be some team building, but not sure this <br />program is the best suited option. Ms. Robertson stated she feels team <br />building is a chance to get to know one another. She also stated she would <br />like to see other options. Mr. Jones stated the goal of the rope course is <br />to focus on trust, confidence, and brainstorming. Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />has seen facilitators use different methods to address the same goals. She <br />stated she is interested in pursuing some type of training. Mr. Guerrero <br />stated he would like to see an assessment on the Council's skills and what <br />their expertise's are. He stated this is the approach that he feels the <br />Council should use in the team building. The Council agreed by consensus <br />to have Staff bring back other team building options for the Council. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding Kula Media and direction to <br />Staff. Mr. Jones moved to table this discussion until the Regular Meeting <br />scheduled for July 17, 2007, and Ms. Couch seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding the Wireless Mesh Project <br />and direction to Staff. Mr. O'Leary stated Staff is preparing to release <br />an RFP for a Wireless Broadband Network on July 2, 2007. He stated Staff <br />has been working on the RFP, including wireless applications to be used by <br />City Departments and requirements for broadband usage. He stated there has <br />been several expressed interest in the upcoming RFP. He stated this <br />project is scheduled to come back to the Council in November and begin in <br />January 2008. Ms. Robertson inquired to the funding for this project. Mr. <br />O'Leary stated there is some funding, but he will not know how much is <br />
