Secure copies of Texas Water Development Board <br />Publications and dispense through perm~t office: <br /> 1. Waster Saving Ideas for Busines and Industry <br /> 2. How to Save Water Inside the Home <br /> 3. How to Save Water Outside the Home <br />II. Proposed Items for FY 89-90 Budget <br /> A. Change City Plumbing Code for new construction to <br />require: <br /> 1. Insulation of all water delivery pipes <br /> 2. Use of 1.6 gallon tank-type water closet <br /> 3. Use of 2.0 gpm shower heads <br /> 4. Use of flush valve urinals @ 1 gal/flush <br /> 5. Centralize location of the water heater in structure so <br />that it is a~equal distance from all hot water using fixtures <br /> 6. Automatic shutoffs on all public showers and <br />lavatories. <br /> 7. Water restrictors/aerators on all faucets <br /> B. Limit percent of total landscape area planted in exotic, <br />highwater use turf grasses <br /> 1. Encourage use of pervious paving <br /> 2. Encourage use of native or adapted plants (that require <br />less water) with educational materials <br />III. Long-Term Planning Strategies and/or CIP Projects <br /> A. Revise plumbing code to receive dual plumbing that allows <br />reuse of grey water for toilet flushing and landscape watering <br />(this may require consultation with the State Health <br />Department). <br /> B. Provide incentives for purchase of water-saving fixtures <br /> 1. $50-100 rebate on commodes that use 1.6 gallons or <br />less per flush (rebate should equ~l cost difference betwen <br />"standard" commode and low-flush model) <br />
