<br />VII. Public Information <br /> A. Work with school district to develop water conservation <br />curriculum for each grade. <br /> 1. Assess current water conservation curriculum at all <br />grade levels. <br /> 2. Compile, distribute and utlize a variety of resources <br />to develop understanding of the importance of water in our lives <br />and promote water conservation: <br /> a. written materials <br /> b. films and other audio-visuals <br /> c. speakers, classroom demonstartions <br /> d. field trips to local faciltiies <br /> 3. Provide inservice for teachers <br /> 4. Coordinate efforts with city and staff (public works, <br />etc) SWTSU, and EUWD to further education: <br /> a. staff available to speak to students and provide <br />statistical information <br /> b. provide classroom demonstrations <br /> c. faciltiies available for tours (ex. water treatment <br />plant) <br /> B. Indoctrinate the Code-Coordinator and other related city <br />staff members on Xeriscape and retrofitting guidelines and <br />low-flow plumbing equipment and have them work with developers <br />and contractors to equip all new buildings with these water <br />saving devices. <br /> C. Plan a Water Conservation Week to coincide with Water <br />Awareness Week next year to kick-off the water saving seasons. <br />include a host of water-related activities throughout the week. <br />VIII. Surface Water Alternatives <br /> A. Continue efforts to use alternative water resources for <br />the City of San Marcos ( including surface water, regional water <br />plans and efforts; and the use of grey water and treated <br />wastewater. <br /> B.Undertake long range plans to implement a surface water <br />treatment system if that is a viable option. Implement such a <br />system. <br />
