Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council was called to order <br />by Mayor Daniel Guerrero at 5:34 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 in the City Council Chambers, <br />630 East Hopkins, San Marcos, Texas 78666. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: 7 - Mayor Daniel Guerrero, Mayor Pro -Tem John Thomaides, Deputy Mayor Pro Tern <br />Wayne Becak, Council Member Ryan Thomason, Council Member Shane Scott, <br />Council Member Jude Prather and Council Member Lisa Prewitt <br />PRESENTATIONS <br />1. Receive a Staff update and hold discussion regarding the Hunter Road Improvements <br />Project, and provide direction to Staff. <br />Richard Reynosa, Senior Engineer, provided Council with an update on the Hunter Road <br />Improvements Project. The Council would like the Neighborhood Commission to look at <br />potential gateway aesthetics if there are cost savings available from the project. <br />6:00 PM <br />III. Invocation <br />A moment of silence was observed. <br />IV. Pledges Of Allegiance - United States And Texas <br />Samuel Maldonado, a 5th grade student at Hernandez Elementary led this evening's pledges. <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Marsha Thomason, addressed the Council about the unreasonable drought restrictions placed <br />on the citizens of San Marcos. She stated that the same Council Members that vote for these <br />restrictions also vote for selling our water to a concrete company. She concluded by asking the <br />Council to please reconsider the stage 3 and stage 4 restrictions. <br />Rob Roark, echoed the points that Mrs. Thomason made, and continued to address his concerns <br />with the Hunter Road Improvements project. His issues were the speed limit in the construction <br />zone and the lack of lighting. He stated that he was the one that got the process started on the <br />speed limit reduction with TXDOT. He wants the Council to learn about being advocates for the <br />citizens and not advocates for the bureaucracy. He further addressed that there are a lot of <br />questions about possible artifacts being found or not in the construction area. <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
