<br />8. <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />January 17, 2006 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Facility at the Municipal Airport; and 3) Sidewalk connectivity Project, <br />which Staff proposes requesting $3 million from the federally funded I <br />Surface Transportation Enhancement Program matched by 20% to 33% from City <br />bond funds. Mr. Thomaides stated he feels a 3 minute presentation should <br />be made on the Commuter Rail issues. He also stated the Economic Impact <br />Study has been completed and shows a substantial impact on San Marcos in <br />2009-2010. Mr. Mihalkanin inquired as to the number of items the Council <br />discussed last year. Mr. O'Leary stated three items were discussed last <br />year. Mr. Mihalkanin inquired as to the cost estimate for the Commuter <br />Rail. Mr. Thomaides stated the estimate is $600 million to fund a 110 mile <br />line. The Council agreed by consensus to add this item to the NLC <br />discussions. Mayor Narvaiz asked Mr. Thomaides to provide a summary to the <br />Council regarding the Commuter Rail project. Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />feels the Council should hold a one-hour public briefing to inform the <br />public about the purpose of the NLC meeting. The Council agreed by <br />consensus to hold a one-hour NLC briefing meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced a discussion regarding City Council direction on <br />future agenda items. 1) Mr. Diaz stated he would like Staff to provide an <br />update about the Rio Vista Terrace Improvement project. 2) Mr. Thomaides <br />stated he would like to discuss the activities that have occurred on <br />property being taken off the tax rolls. He stated he would also like the <br />Council to consider doing an updated Resolution. Mayor Narvaiz stated this I <br />Resolution was taken to TML, which they accepted for Legislation. 3) Mr. <br />Bose stated he would like to hold a discussion regarding the different <br />funding resources available for housing rehabilitation programs. He <br />inquired as to the City's plans for future housing programs.
