He stated the Great Race Rally will be held on <br />April 1, 2006, and the Texas Western Swing is scheduled for May 19 and 20, <br />2006. 3) Mr. Jones stated he also attended NLC in Washington, D.C. He <br />stated he learned that several people are not taking advantage of the Tax <br />Credit exemptions offered. He stated he feels the citizens should be made <br />aware of this exemption. 4) Mr. Jones stated he met with TSU-SM <br />President, Dr. Denise Trauth regarding the Sanctuary Loft being taken off <br />the tax rolls. He stated he was informed this would not occur. 5) Mr. <br />Jones thanked Mr. Smith for coming out and speaking during the Citizen <br />Comment Period. 6) Mr. Diaz thanked Staff for their hard work on <br />presentation materials provided during the meetings with Representative and <br />Senators in Washington, D.C. 7) Mr. Thomaides stated he attended the NLC <br />Conference in Washington, D.C. He stated he also met with Senator <br />Hutchinson's staff, which he felt was informative. 8) Mr. Thomaides stated <br />he attended a special session at NLC regarding University Communities and <br />wireless internet. He stated he also attended a session regarding SAFE- <br />TEA-LU, which will be helpful with the funding process. 10) Mr. Guerrero <br />stated he attended the San Marcos-Hays County Emergency Medical Services <br />Board where he was elected Chairman. 11) Mr. Guerrero stated he attended <br />his last San Marcos Leadership of San Marcos meeting and commended the <br />organization. 12) Mr. Guerrero stated he met the Economic Development <br />Director from the City of Buda. He stated he has several good ideas, which <br />I he will share with the Council. 13) Mr. Guerrero stated he also attended <br />the NLC Conference and met with Senator Hutchison regarding the Municipal <br />Alrport. 14) Mr. Guerrero stated he also attended the session on <br />University Communities, which he was selected as a Board Member. 15) Mr. <br />Guerrero stated he was married on Saturday, March 11, 2006, and he thanked <br />his fellow Council Members for their support. 16) Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />attended a meeting on Community branding, which she felt was very <br />informative. 17) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended a session with <br />information on immigration reform and economic vitality. She stated she <br />attended both of these meetings at the National League of Cities <br />Conference. 18) Mayor Narvaiz stated she was proud of the team that went <br />to Washington, D.C. She stated she feels the meetings with our <br />Representatives and Senators were very beneficial. She felt our <br />Representatives and Senators learned different things about San Marcos they <br />might not have known. 19) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended a meeting at <br />NLC regarding literacy and the impact it has on a City and the economics of <br />the City. 20) Mr. Guerrero thanked Chuck Nash for going to Washington, <br />D.C. and speaking to Senator Hutchison regarding the Municipal Airport. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held March 7, 2006, adoption of three Ordinances on third <br />and final reading, and adoption of four Resolutions, on consent.
