He stated he would support the recommendation for the Economic <br />Development Director, which GMC is recommending. Mr. Thomaides stated he I <br />would also support the candidate being recommended by GMG. Margie Moore, <br />Global Marketeer Group, Inc., introduced Kim L. Moore as her recommendation <br />for the Economic Development Director. Mr. Guerrero inquired as to Ms. Kim <br />Moore's greatest professional challenges. Ms. Moore stated her biggest <br />professional challenge was learning infrastructures and learning sites to <br />market in order to find the right fit for prospects. Mr. Diaz inquired why <br />Ms. Moore wanted to be the economic development director, and Ms. Moore <br />stated she was drawn to the location and was excited to be a part of the <br />development of the area. Mr. Jones inquired how large a role incentives <br />play in a company's decision to locate in a particular City. Ms. Moore <br />stated she feels incentives are important, but it also depends on the <br />company, and incentives should be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. She <br />also stated she feels San Marcos has a lot to offer such as a great quality <br />of life, the university, an educated workforce, and jobs are needed for <br />them to stay. Ms. Moore stated she feels you need to find out what the <br />companies are looking for and what will encourage them to come to San <br />Marcos or to stay in San Marcos. Mr. Bose stated San Marcos is diversified <br />and inquired how she would include all of the community. Ms. Moore stated <br />she coordinated an economic symposium with an open forum and 300 citizens <br />in Denton attended with diversified presentations to provide training, and <br />a survey was compiled with the findings. She stated communication is <br />important, and community education venues could be held throughout the <br />year. Mayor Narvaiz inquired to Ms. Moore would utilize her experiences <br />from what she learned in her different positions. Ms. Moore stated she <br />loves to learn and take on challenges. She stated she loves to work in the <br />marketing field, which she feels will be easy to do with a City like San <br />Marcos. She stated she feels she can use the skills from her previous <br />positions to help her market San Marcos. Mr. Jones inquired as to what Ms. <br />Moore feels is the most important characteristic of a successful Economic <br />Development Director. Ms. Moore stated she feels an Economic Development <br />Director should be able to learn, listen and find the right economic <br />development fit for San Marcos. Mayor Narvaiz inquired as to what Ms. <br />Moore sees in the opportunity for this position, which she does not <br />currently have in her current position. Ms. Moore stated in her current <br />position she does not have the opportunity to advance in professional <br />development. She stated she feels the Economic Development Director is a <br />great opportunity to learn, and feels there is a lot to do here in San <br />Marcos. Mr. Mihalkanin moved for adoption of the Resolution, and Mr. <br />Guerrero seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the Government <br />Code, Section 551.072 and 551.073, to discuss the lease of real property <br />(North IH35 area); negotiated contracts for prospective gifts or donations I <br />to the City (West San Antonio Street area); and Section 551.087, to discuss <br />commercial or financial information the City has received from a business <br />
