<br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />June 6, 2006 <br /> <br />82. <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />congratulated all SMHS graduates and Dr. Eduardo Ozuna who graduated with <br />his PhD from Texas Tech University. 11) Mr. Mihalkanin thanked Staff for <br />their hard work to reach the goal of opening Rio Vista Dam by Memorial Day <br />weekend. 12) Mayor Narvaiz stated there will be a Rio Vista Dam community <br />celebration on June 21, 2006, at the Dam. She stated the landscaping of <br />Rio Vista Dam will begin this week and help is needed from the citizens to <br />please stay clear of the landscaping. 13) Mayor Narvaiz stated the San <br />Marcos Manufacturers' Association held a luncheon in honor of their 25th <br />Anniversary. She thanked Staff for their hard work on this event. 14) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she was the keynote speaker at the Hays County GED <br />Graduation. She stated this graduation was very inspiring; two of the <br />graduates were mother and daughter. 15) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended <br />the Pack it Up and Pass It On event at Texas State University. She thanked <br />the Texas State Community Relations Team for another successful event where <br />students' household goods are donated to families that may need furniture, <br />computers, clothes and other items. 16) Mayor Narvaiz thanked her <br />colleagues for filling in for her while she attended the ICSC Conference. <br />She stated the City of San Marcos was one of the fifteen cities represented <br />at this conference. 17) Mayor Narvaiz stated the Summerfest Parade will be <br />held July 4, and if Council is interested in participating in the parade, <br />please contact the City Clerk's Office. 18) Mayor Narvaiz stated the City <br />of San Marcos is a Co-Host at the Annual Transportation Summit in Irving, <br />Texas, in August. She stated if any Council Members are interested in <br />attending, please contact the City Clerk's Office. 19) Kyle Morris stated <br />he met with Dr. Barrera from Texas State University, who is committed to <br />helping with mentoring of SMCISD students. He stated this was one of the <br />three objectives from his meeting with Dr. Perez, SMCISD Superintendent. He <br />stated he is still working on the other two objectives. 20) Kyle Morris <br />stated the Student Government Association still continues to support the <br />efforts to integrate the CARTS and University Tram systems. 21) Kyle <br />Morris thanked the Council and Staff for the invitation to the San Marcos <br />Manufacturers' Association luncheon. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held May 16, 2006, approval of two Ordinances on second <br />reading, adoption of an Ordinance on third and final reading, adoption of <br />nine Resolutions, approval to authorize the expenditure of $78,000.00 from <br />Electric Utility Fund Contingency Funds for the purchase of transformers, <br />and approval to authorize the expenditure of $17,100.00 from General Fund <br />Contingency Funds to cover fuel costs for FY2006 for the San Marcos Fire <br />Rescue, on consent. The City Council removed Item 11, approval of an <br />Ordinance, Items 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, adoption of Resolutions, Items 22, <br />approval to authorize the expenditure of $17,100.00 from General Fund <br />Contingency Funds to cover fuel costs for FY2006 for the San Marcos Fire <br />Rescue, and Items 23, approval to authorize the expenditure of $78,000.00 <br />from Electric Utility Fund Contingency Funds for the purchase of <br />transformers, to be considered separately.
