Mr. O'Leary stated the City <br />Council provided direction regarding real property in the Hunter Road area I <br />and North IH35 area. He stated the Council also provided direction on how <br />to proceed with the duties of the Municipal Court. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz lead the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Ed Davis stated he <br />had provided the Council with a plan for implementing a Trap-Neuter-Release <br />(TNR) program at a Council Meeting a few months ago. He encouraged Council <br />to find the funds for this program, which he feels would cost less to <br />implement the TNR than euthanizing animals. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. 1) Mr. O'Leary stated the Rio <br />Vista Dam project was very successful and people are using the area by the <br />thousands. He stated the heavy use of the area has created problems with <br />trash, security and parking. He also stated the Staff is committed to <br />keeping the Rio Vista Park a nice and safe environment, and Staff will be <br />coming up with plans to address these issues. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvai z introduced the City Council Report. 1) Mr. Bose stated he <br />served as an ambassador for the City at the Eddie Durham Museum, which was <br />very educating. 2) Mr. Bose stated he attended the Hays-Caldwell women'l <br />Center auction thatraised about $42,000.00. He thanked everyone wh <br />attended the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center auction. 3) Mr. Bose stated h <br />attended the Austin-San Antonio Corridor Transportation Task Force meeting <br />held today. He also stated he wants to work with the City to help <br />facilitate communications with traffic situations between other <br />municipalities along IH35. He stated he provided the Council with a <br />Resolution, which he feels will help with the relocation of the railroads. <br />4) Mr. Diaz stated he represented the Mayor and Council on May 22 at Gary <br />Job Corps at the new high school ribbon cutting. 5) Mr. Diaz stated he and <br />Daniel Guerrero welcomed a Chinese delegation on May 23. He stated he <br />feels this was a very successful visit, which will bring other visitors to <br />San Marcos. 6) Mr. Thomaides stated he also attended the Commuter Rail <br />Meeting with Mr. Bose. He stated the next meeting is scheduled for June 2 <br />in San Marcos and the July meeting will be held at the Aquarena Springs <br />Hotel. 7) Mr. Thomaides thanked Mayor Narvaiz for hosting the San Marcos <br />Manufacturers' Association Luncheon. He stated he felt this was a very <br />successful event. 8) Mr. Thomaides stated he has visited the Rio Vista Dam <br />several times and feels there should not be any trash on the grounds since <br />there are twelve trash cans on both sides of the river. He encouraged the <br />citizens to clean up after themselves to help eliminate the trash problem. <br />9) Mr. Guerrero stated he also met with the Chinese delegation, which wal <br />an invitation from the Governor's Office to Margie Moore. He stated th <br />delegation visited CFAN and other manufacturers, the University and the <br />were treated to dinner at David Chiu' shouse. 10) Mr. Guerrer <br />
