<br />98 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />February 8, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as fol- <br />lows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURE:; AND LAND, DATED JUNE l3, <br />1984 (VOL. 66) BY ZONING A PART OF LOT NO. TEN (lO), <br />BLOCK NO. ONE (1) OF THE B. F. DONALSON ADDITION, <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, ACCORDING <br />TO THE MAP OR PLAT THEREOF NOW OF RECORD IN VOL. liT", <br />PAGES 102-l03, HAYS COUNTY DEED RECORDS, LOCATED AT <br />ll9 CHEATHAM STREET, FROM "III (INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT) <br />TO "CII (COMMERCIAL DISTRICT); AND DECLARING AN EFFECT- <br />IVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak. Mike Tolleson was present representing the owners of the pro- <br />perty and advised the Council this zoning change was to conform a por- <br />tion of the property which is still zoned "I" to the City Master Plan. <br />No one else wished to speak for or against the zoning change, so Mayor <br />Younger closed the public hearing. Mr. Brown moved for adoption of <br />the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance <br />on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, ANENDING CHAPTER 29 OF THE SAN MARCOS <br />CODE OF ORDINANCES BY THE ADDITION OF A NO PARKING/ <br />TOW AWAY ZONE ON WOODS STREET, AND ESTABLISHING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hernandez moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading <br />and Mr. Farr seconded the motion. Alan Holzgrafe, a student at SWT, <br />advised the Council a priest (Father McCabe) requested this change, <br />which would eliminate 5 to 6 parking spaces. He stated it was not <br />logical to take away these spaces. He stated the priest had made <br />complaints regarding additional litter. Mayor Younger stated with <br />the yellow stripe already on the curb, he sees no reason for this <br />Ordinance but that the stripe may need to be extended if the garbage <br />truck is having d~fficulty, without eliminating all the parking spaces. <br />On roll call the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Farr, Guerra, Younger, Hernandez, Nicola. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br /> <br />Brown. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration approval of four Ordinances <br />on second reading and two Ordinances on third and final reading by <br />consensus. The Council pulled Item 8.B. (2) to be considered separ- <br />ately. Mr. Farr moved to approve the four Ordinances on second read- <br />ing and the remaining Ordinance on third and final reading by consensus <br />and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
