<br />made a part of this ordinance is adopted as the official tabulation of the votes cast at the election, <br />and the tabulation will be filed and recorded in the official records of the City of San Marcos as <br />the official canvass of the election. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION 3. The official canvass of the returns of the election reflects the following: <br /> <br />A. That in the election for City Council Member, Place 1, Kim Porterfield received 1314 <br />votes and Betsy Robertson received 1265 votes; <br /> <br />B. That in the election for City Council Member, Place 2, Gaylord Bose received 1306 votes <br />and Jude Prather received 1303 votes; <br /> <br />C. The following votes were cast for and against the following numbered propositions: <br /> <br />PROPOSITION NO.1 <br /> <br />The proposal to establish the San Marcos Conference Center as a venue project and to fund that <br />project by raising the hotel occupancy tax from its present rate of seven percent (7%) by two <br />percent (2%) to a new, total rate of nine percent (9%). <br /> <br />Votes for Proposition No.1: 1748 <br />Votes against Proposition No.1: 868 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION 4. That Kim Porterfield is elected City Council Member, Place 1; Gaylord <br />Bose is elected City Council Member, Place 2; and Proposition No.1 is adopted. <br /> <br />SECTION 5. The importance of this Ordinance creates an emergency and an imperative <br />public necessity, and the provisions of the Charter requiring that ordinances be presented at three <br />separate meetings, and that ordinances do not take effect until ten (10) days after the date of final <br />passage are suspended, and this Ordinance will take effect upon publication of notice of its <br />adoption in a newspaper of general circulation in the City. <br /> <br />PASSED.
