Mr. Jones also <br />attended the NLC EENRE Steering Committee in Spokane, Washington, which had <br />several interesting discussions. He also had the opportunity to attend a <br />Nuclear Energy presentation and discuss the benefits of nuclear energy. He <br />also stated the Coal Plant Coalition which is being created, wants San <br />Marcos involved. Mr. Jones also attended the POW /MIA ceremony, and thanked <br />the Mayor and City Staff for putting it together. Mr. Jones also attended <br />the prayer for San Marcos schools. 5) Ms. Robertson congratulated everyone <br />who was involved in the Pet Fest event. She stated she also attended the <br />San Marcos Public Library book sale. Ms. Robertson encouraged the citizens <br />to attend the CONA debate on October 4, 2007 at the Activity Center. She <br />also encouraged the citizens to attend the Tribute to River, which is being <br />held at the Library on October 14, 2007. 6) Mr. Guerrero thanked the <br />Employee Group for hosting the City Employee Picnic. He stated he also <br />enjoyed participating in Pet Fest. Mr. Guerrero stated he and Ms. <br />Robertson were able to be a part of Gore's Inconvenient Truth live <br />presentation. He also stated he was made aware of some University <br />developments taking place around the United States regarding the loss of <br />students to a shooting and campus safety. 7) Mayor Narvaiz stated the <br />City of San Marcos is fortunate to have an Alert Center where people are <br />trained to help with the different types of situations that can occur at <br />schools and within the community. She also stated Melissa Millecam was <br />working with leadership on campus to detail how to interact in an <br />emergency. Mayor Narvaiz read a letter regarding the POW /MIA event, which <br />wouldn't have happened without City Staff. She also read a letter <br />regarding Debbie Dietz, Parks and Recreation Department, customer service. <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she was informed that the Government Land Office has <br />sold their property at Stone Creek, which will now be back on the tax <br />roles. She stated she also attended a TXI Groundbreaking, which will <br />employee 600 people. She stated this is an exciting partnership for the <br />purchase of reclaimed water. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration approval of minutes of the <br />Regular Meeting held September 18, 2007, approval of five Ordinances on <br />second reading, adoption of three Ordinances on third and final reading, <br />and adoption of four Resolutions, on consent. The Council pulled Item #16, <br />adoption of Resolution, to be considered separately. Mr. Jones moved for <br />approval of minutes of the Regular Meeting held September 18, 2007, <br />approval of five Ordinances, adoption of the remaining two Ordinances on <br />third and final reading, adoption of four Resolutions, on consent, and Mr. <br />Thomaides seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Ms. Robertson <br />moved to amend all Ordinances and Resolutions by removing Andy Quitter's <br />name and replacing with Michael J.
