Regular Meeting October 2, 2007 Page 3 <br />homes in Sagewood is they are temporary housing and not owned by the <br />residents. 10) Charlie Abney stated.he wished to speak regarding Item #32, <br />discussion regarding Rental Permitting Group. He stated he feels the <br />additional people in the area are not necessary. 11) Paden Wagner stated <br />he wished to speak regarding Item #32, discussion regarding Rental <br />Permitting Group. He stated he feels the main concern is noise complaints. <br />He has asked for the decimal level, but no one is able to provide this to <br />him. 12) Craig Noel stated he wished to speak regarding Item #32, <br />discussion regarding Rental Permitting Group. He stated he feels the <br />zoning of the Sagewood neighborhood is the reason the City is having <br />trouble now. He stated he feels this area is a central student housing <br />area. He encouraged the Council to not adopt rental permitting. 13) <br />Fernando Yzquierdo stated he wished to speak regarding Item #32, discussion <br />regarding Rental Permitting Group. He encouraged the Council not to adopt <br />rental permitting. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary provided a <br />powerpoint presentation of Kayla his granddaughter, who was adopted by his <br />daughter and son -in -law. He stated he and his wife have decided to move <br />closer to her, to help with raising her. He stated after 28 years he has <br />decided to leave San Marcos and December 13, 2007 will be his last day. <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated the City will miss Mr. O'Leary's dedication and <br />leadership. She stated Mr. O'Leary was a graduate from the then Southwest <br />Texas University and loved San Marcos so much that he stayed. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Donovan Knight stated <br />this will be his last City Council Meeting; and Casey Morgan will be the <br />new Student Liaison. He also stated he is recommending Michael Flowers to <br />the Rental Permitting Work Group. 2) Mr. Thomaides thanked Donovan Knight <br />for his service to the Council and community. Mr. Thomaides also stated he <br />has noticed several elementary school students taking the CARTS buses to <br />and from school. He stated parents have informed him that the fares are <br />low and it removes the students from crowded school buses. Mr. Thomaides <br />also congratulated the Philadelphia Phillies on their playoff spot. 2) Ms. <br />Couch thanked Donovan Knight for his service and welcomed Casey Morgan. <br />She stated she also attended the POW /MIA event, which was a great event. <br />She stated she also attended a walk through the Sagewood neighborhood along <br />with several other officials. Ms. Couch stated she attended the Downtown <br />Master Plan Workshop and was impressed with the information the community <br />received from the consultants. 3) Mr. Bose thanked Donavan Knight for his <br />hard work. He stated he attended the Downtown Master Plan Workshop and <br />thanked everyone who attended. He also stated he attended the POW /MIA <br />event and he thanked all the soldiers who provide us with freedom. Mr. <br />Bose also attended the Town and Gown event which was very informative. He <br />also attended the Pet Fest and the City Employee Picnic 4) Chris Jones <br />stated he attended Future Energy Conference, which was hosted by Austin <br />Chamber of Commerce.
