Regular Meeting <br />December 4, 2007 <br />Mayor Narvaiz announced the Council would reconvene at 6:59 p.m. <br />Page 2 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced for consideration adoption or direction to Staff <br />on matters discussed in Executive Session. Ms. Jamison stated the Council <br />received an update and provided direction regarding an incentive business <br />prospect for Project Story. She also stated Council gave directions <br />regarding the duties of the Interim City Manager. The Council also gave <br />direction regarding an applicant for the City Clerk position. <br />Reverend Gary Smith with Christ the Redeemer Church led the Invocation. <br />Drew Shelton with Bobcat Build led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Citizen Comment Period. 1) Guadalupe Carbajal <br />stated he was the Treasurer of the Downtown Association. He encouraged the <br />Council to consider the business opinion when considering the commercial <br />trash service. He also stated if the Council chooses to go out for bids <br />for commercial trash service to meet with the vendors of the City to get <br />their input. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Ms. Jamison stated the 8000 and <br />9000 phone numbers were down today, which are the numbers at City Hall. <br />She stated Centurytel has the phones up and working now. She also stated <br />the Permitting Work Group will hold their first meeting on December 10, <br />2007 at 3:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Mr. Bose stated <br />this is the time when volunteering makes a large difference, on Sunday, <br />December 2, 2007 he rang the bell at Wal -Mart. He encouraged everyone to <br />take time and volunteer. 2) Mr. Guerrero encouraged citizens to attend <br />Sights and Sounds from Thursday, December 6 to Saturday, December 8, 2007. <br />He also thanked all the shoppers who came out the Friday after <br />Thanksgiving. He stated he drove by at midnight and there was a stream of <br />taillights. He thanked the City Staff who work hard to provide security <br />and safety to everyone during a big weekend. Mr. Guerrero stated he went <br />to a conference last weekend with his wife and talked to several attendees <br />about the Embassy Suites being open. 3) Ms. Couch stated she attended the <br />Downtown Task Force Workshops. She stated there has been a lot of good <br />work put into the Downtown Master Plan. She thanked all the volunteers and <br />for those who have signed up to volunteer to serve on Boards and <br />Commissions. She also encouraged everyone to attend the Sights and Sounds. <br />4) Mr. Jones stated Texas State University will be having their Fall <br />Graduation. He encouraged citizens to show the visitors great hospitality. <br />He also encouraged the community to take can goods to the Hays County Food <br />Bank for the holiday season. 5) Mr. Thomaides stated he attended the <br />Habitat for Humanity home ribbon cutting. He stated it was very touching <br />to see a family get their first house. He also wanted to thank the <br />
