Hopkins Street — Preliminary Engineering
Attachment A
January 22, 2015
1OJppFG dpi flpA n y 11Vµp41 a dL , u
(c) Storm drain information for the existing system on the north end of the project
(Discharge Point 3) will be obtained from the City.
(2) Up to twenty (20) additional street cross - sections at locations designated by FNI after the
site visits to help identify drainage patterns, determine street flow capacity, and the
identify flooding outside of the right -of -way.
D. Level B SUE on all utilities within the project limits.
E. Prepare a base map suitable for use in engineering design, showing existing rights of way and
adjoining property lines.
F. Right of Way Mapping. Mapping of existing right of way will be as "apparent right -of -way" as
opposed to a right -of -way retracement. If a right -of -way retracement is required for parcels in
which right of way is not being acquired, it will be as an additional services.
G. Obtain written permission (Rights -of -Entry) from property owners so that the Surveyor and /or
their assigns are able to enter upon their property for surveying purposes.
3. Geotechnical investigation
A. Perform a total of four (4) soil borings within the area of the proposed storm sewer and roadway
reconstruction. The borings will be drilled to depths ranging from 10 to 15 feet each for a total
drilling amount not to exceed 60 feet, to include traffic control and any street cut permits.
B. If groundwater is encountered, the groundwater levels within the open borehole(s) will be
recorded at the time of drilling and immediately following drilling. Laboratory testing will be
performed on recovered samples selected by the geotechnical engineer to aid in soil
classification and to measure engineering properties. Prepare formal engineering report that
will include:
(1) Description of the field exploration program, laboratory testing program, and Soil boring
plan that depicts borehole locations on a base map;
(2) Soil boring logs with soil classifications based on the USCS (ASTM D2487);
(3) Generalized site stratigraphy and engineering properties developed from field and
laboratory data at the explored locations;
(4) Depth where groundwater was encountered during drilling and its impact on construction;
(5) Recommendations, design parameters and construction considerations for utility
installation;
(6) Pavement analysis in accordance with City and AASHTO requirements forthe specified road
type, and development of recommended pavement sections with consideration of the
feasibility of lime stabilization, material requirements, and construction considerations;
and
(7) The suitability for use of on -site materials for compacted backfill will be discussed.
C. The pavement section thicknesses for the proposed pavements will be developed in accordance
with the City or AASHTO Manual.
(1) City shall provide FNI traffic loading and traffic counts for use in pavement design.
[OFF140411 L: \OLCR \San Marcos
