<br />63 <br /> <br />Regular Meeting <br /> <br />June 8, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as fol- <br />lows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED JUNE 13, 1984 <br />(VOL. 66) BY ZONING BLOCKS 1, 2 AND 11, VICTORY GARDENS <br />SECTION 1 AS RECORDED IN VOLUME 128, PAGE 46 OF HAYS <br />COUNTY DEED RECORDS AND 0.85 OF AN ACRE OF LAND WITHIN <br />THE J. M. VERAMENDI SURVEY NUMBER ONE, CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, SAID 0.85 OF ONE ACRE <br />BEING A PORTION OF THAT CERTAIN 20 ACRE TRACT <br />DESCRIBED IN VOLUME 127, PAGE 399 OF THE DEED RE- <br />CORDS OF HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, LOCATED AT CAMACHO <br />STREET, TRUMAN STREET AND HULL STREET, FROM "I" <br />(INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT) TO "R-2" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWEL- <br />LING DISTRICT [MEDIUM DENSITY]); AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished <br />to speak for or against the zoning change. No one wished to speak, <br />so Mayor Younger closed the public hearing. Ms. Kissler moved for <br />adoption of the Ordinance and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion. Mayor <br />Younger expressed concern what the impact of this zoning change would <br />have on the use of the property, and thinks it would be prime indus- <br />trial property. Mr. Robbins stated it would not affect this property <br />to rezone it, as there is R-l all around it and the existing use of <br />the area is low density residential and this would bring this property <br />into conformity with the Master Plan. There was no opposition to the <br />rezoning during the public hearing process before the Zoning Commission <br />to this change either. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of <br />the Zoning Ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration a public hearing and <br />adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FUTURE LAND USE PLAN (MAP) <br />OF THE MASTER PLAN OF SAID CITY, OF BLOCK 2, LOTS 2, <br />3,4, 5 AND 6 OF THE VICTORY GARDENS, SECTION 1 TO THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, AS RECORDED IN <br />VOLUME 128, PAGE 46 OF THE HAYS COUNTY DEED RECORDS, <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, LOCATED AT 200-206 CAMACHO STREET, <br />FROM CO~1MERCIAL TO LOW DENSITY RESIDENTIAL; AND DECLAR- <br />ING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger opened the public hearing and <br />speak in favor or in opposition to the land <br />so Mayor Younger closed the public hearing. <br />adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Hernandez <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />asked if anyone wished to <br />use change. Lynde Krueger of <br />1007 Dale advised the Council this block is gravel and needs to be paved. <br />She has made efforts through the Staff and in writing to the Council, and <br />they need paving immediately. Mike Smith of 1505 Furman stated there <br />would be a continuance of erosion with the excess water. He invited the <br />Council to come walk his neighborhood and see the problem firsthand. Mr. <br />Blackburn advised the Council this matter has been before the Planning <br />Commission. Mike Huggeman stated he receives gravel in front of his <br />
