<br />96 <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />JUNE 22, 1987 <br /> <br />PAGE 10 <br /> <br />Mr. Clarke approached the podeum and stated the repairs would <br />need to cover a two block area. He passed out photographs of <br />the streets. He stated the street is washing away and that <br />it consisted of a series of patches. He stated the trash trucks <br />created very deep ruts which break up the surface. He stated <br />that Browne Street has had a constant water leak and Public Works <br />had done nothing yet. He stated he had made two calls regarding <br />the leak on different occasions. Mr. Boeker stated he would have <br />a test done on the water leak. Mr. Boeker also stated the cost <br />of repairs would be approximately $6,500.00. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced a discussion by Joe Schneider regarding <br />flooding on Faris Street. Mr. Schneider approached the podeum. <br />He stated that run-off water stored in a drainage ditch a few <br />blocks away is opened up in the 400 block of Faris Street and that <br />rocks, tree limbs, trash and other debris float along and stay <br />on Faris Street. He handed out color pictures for the Council to <br />review. Mayor Younger stated he had sent memorandums to A. C. <br />Gonzalez and George Boeker regarding the flooding problems. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced a discussion of proposed budget of Central <br />Appraisal District. Mr. Guerra stated he ask that this discussion <br />be on the agenda. He said the proposed budget showed increases and <br />that he had difficulty with the budget as it read. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced a discussion of San Marcos becoming a <br />Bicentennial Community. Mr. Farr suggested that the Historic <br />Preservation Commission or the Mainstreet Advisory Board may wish <br />to work on this program. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced a discussion regarding placing of flagpole <br />at Dunbar. Staff is directed to check if there might be a light <br />pole available for use. City Manager Gonzalez stated it would be <br />a community effort and there would be no cost involved. <br /> <br />Mr. Hernandez moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session pur- <br />suant to Article 6252-17 §§2 (e) and (f), V.A.C.S., to discuss con- <br />templated litigation and matters where the duties of the City Attorney <br />to the City pursuant to the Code of Professional Responsibility of the <br />State Bar of Texas clearly conflicts with Article 6252-17; and pur- <br />chase of real property, respectively, and Mr. Guerra seconded the <br />motion which passed unanimously. (10:37 p.m.) <br /> <br />Mr. Hernandez moved the Council reconvene at 11:00 p.m. and Mr. Guerra <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration award of bid on Willow <br />Creek Sanitary Sewer Extension Project. Mr. Guerra moved to award <br />bid to Mission Contractors in the amount of $137,566.64 and Mr. <br />Hernandez seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Brown moved to bring Item #4 (consider approval of appointments <br />to Boards) back on the floor and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion <br />which passed unanimously. Mr. Brown stated that one appointment <br />to the Commission For Minorities be vacated and a representative <br />from the black community be appointed. Mr. Hernandez stated he <br />would contact his appointments and see if one would withdraw and <br />would contact a person from the black community to appoint. <br />
