He stated <br />a street overlay in the amount of $200,000 is included in the budget, <br />a minor amount of capital outlay, upgrade of fire reserve (additional <br />gear $30,000), one new firefighter position. He stated there is <br />$156,000 in the budget for Social Services and that the Electric <br />Budget will come to the Council as soon as the Board approves it. <br />The Council was provided with the entire proposed budget by line <br />item as well as an executive summary. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced the setting of the public hearing on the 1987- <br />1988 proposed budget and direction to the City Secretary to publish <br />notice and the budget summary. Mr. Farr moved to set the public hearing <br />for August 3, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. and Mayor Younger seconded the motion. <br />Because some Council Members would not be available that date, the mo- <br />tion was withdrawn. Mr. Hernandez moved to set the public hearing <br />Wednesday, August 5,1987 at 7:30 p.m. and Mr. Guerra seconded the <br />motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption <br />of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF <br />BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED JUNE 13, 1984 <br />(VOL. 66) BY ZONING PART OF LOT 6, BLOCK 3, OF LINDSAY <br />AND HARVEY ADDITION, AN ADDITION IN HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, <br />ACCORDING TO THE MAP OR PLAT THEREOF RECORDED IN VOLUME <br />E, PAGE 416, OF THE DEED R~CORDS OF HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS, <br />LOCATED 516 W. HOPKINS STREET, FROM "P" (PUBLIC USE <br />DISTRICT) TO "OP" (OFFICE PROFESSIONAL DISTRICT); AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mayor Younger opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to <br />speak in favor of the Zoning amendment. Jeff Kester was present repre- <br />senting the owner of the property to answer any questions. He stated he <br />wants to purchase the church from the owner. he said his plans are to <br />remove part of the building to make it a 2200 square foot building. He <br />stated this portion of Hopkins allows on-street parking and that there <br />are six spaces on the site.
