171 Regular Meeting July 27, 1987 Page 6 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF THAT STREET KNOWN AS COMALjPORTER STREET LOCATED WITHIN TEE CORPORATE LIMITS OF SAID CITY TO MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE, ORDER- ING THE CITY SECRETARY, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS, THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND THE DIRECTOR OF ENVIRONMENT AND ENGINEERING TO ENTER SAID CHANGE IN AND UPON OFFI- CIAL RECORDS AND MAPS, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Younger introduced for coLsideration adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, DECLARING THE NECESSITY OF ACQUIRING REAL PROPERTY FOR A PUBLIC PURPOSE, TO-WIT: TO FACI- LITATE THE PROPER ALIGNMENT OF NORTH L.B.J. DRIVE AND BISHOP STREET AT RANCH ROAD 12; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECT- ING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO ACQUIRE SUCH PROPERTY THROUGH VOLUNTARY ACQUISITION OR TO INSTITUTE EMINENT DOMAIN PROCEEDINGS THEREFOR; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Nicola moved for adoption of the Resolution and Ms. Kissler se- conded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING TEAT RESOLUTION APPROVED ON JULY 13, 1987 APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES TO SERVE IN THE SPECIAL ELECTION OF SAID CITY TO BE HELD ON AUGUST 8, 1987, AND DECLARING AN EFFECT- IVE DATE. Ms. Kissler moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Guerra se- conded the motion. Mayor Younger moved to amend the Resolution to change the Alternate Judge of Precinct 16 from Truman Finley to Tommye Finley and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion, which passed unani- mously. On roll call for adoption of the Resolution, the Council approved the Resolution unanimously. Mayor Younger introduced for consideration adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING FINAL PAYMENT TO MOTOROLA, INC. FOR COMPLETION OF THAT PROJECT KNOWN AS COMMUNI- CATIONS CONTROL CENTER CONSOLE FOR THE SAN MARCOS POLICE DEPARTMENT, ACCEPTING SAID PROJECT FOR USE BY SAID CITY, AUTHORIZING FINAL PAYMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $57,609.00, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Farr moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Hernandez se- conded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Younger introduced for consideration authorization for approval of use of contingency funds in the amount of $2,000.00 for a flood monitor system. Mr. Hernandez moved for approval and Mr. Nicola se- conded the motion. Fire Chief Oscar Carpenter advised the Council the Upper Watershed District had contributed $30,000 towards this system and the City needed a contribution of $2,000 so that we could receive national weather imformation by satellite. The Council voted unanimously for approval.
