RESOLUTION NO. 2015-63R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS REQUESTING THAT THE HAYS CENTRAL <br />APPRAISAL DISTRICT REAPPRAISE PROPERTIES IN THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS AFFECTED BY THE RECENT HISTORIC FLOODING <br />AS AUTHORIZED BY TEXAS TAX CODE SECTION 23.02. <br />RECITALS: <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos has suffered widespread severe property damage, <br />injuries and loss of life resulting from devastating, historic floods that occurred on Sunday, May <br />24, 2015 when the Blanco River rose above 40 feet; <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos has declared a local state of <br />disaster in the City as authorized by the Texas Disaster Act, Chapter 418 of the Texas <br />Government Code; <br />WHEREAS, on May 26, 2015, Governor Greg Abbott, in accordance with the authority <br />vested in him by Sections 418.014 through 418.017 of the Texas Disaster Act, declared a state of <br />disaster in Central Texas counties including Hays County; <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos desires to request that the Hays Central Appraisal <br />District reappraise all property damaged by the disaster as authorized by Texas Tax Code Section <br />23.02. <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The City of San Marcos requests that the Hays Central Appraisal District <br />reappraise all property within the City of San Marcos city limits that was damaged by the disaster <br />as soon as practicable. <br />PART 2. Beginning on the date of the disaster, May 24, 2015 continuing through <br />the remainder of 2015, the City of San Marcos will apply its tax rate to the reappraised market <br />value of the properties that are reappraised by the Hays Central Appraisal District. <br />ADOPTED on June 2, 2015. <br />. nie.4 u rr' <br />Mayor <br />
