City Council Meeting Minutes - Final June 30, 2015 <br />2. Hold discussion on the impacts of the increased property tax valuations and ways to <br />keep the tax burden on current property owners at current levels, and provide direction <br />to staff. <br />Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Scott and Council Member Thomason gave a brief <br />update about this item. Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Scott has asked staff to <br />consider ways to alleviate the tax burden on property owners due to increase <br />property tax valuations. Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott suggested an increase in <br />Homestead exemption. Staff will provide options and explain how an increase <br />of the homestead exemption will affect the funding for other programs and the <br />average impact per house at a future date. <br />III.
