Mayor Pro Tem Plummer introduced a public hearing the caption of the Ordinance which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING LOTS 1,2 AND 10-27 OF BLOCK A, AND LOTS 1-10, 13-20 AND 23-26 OF BLOCK B OF P ARKLANE GARDEN HOMES, PHASE I, REVISED AS RECORDED IN VOLUME 5, PAGE 163 OF THE HAYS COUNTY PLAT RECORDS, AND LOTS 28-37, 39-44 AND 60-75 OF BLOCK A AND LOTS 27-32 AND 34-68 OF BLOCK B OF SUNRIDGE P.U.D. SUBDIVISION AS RECORDED IN VOLUME 4, PAGES 309-311 OF THE HAYS COUNTY PLAT RECORDS, LOCATED IN THE 1600,1700,1800 AND 1900 BLOCKS OF LANCASTER STREET, FROM "PUD" PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT TO "R-l" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SETTING SPEED LIMITS ON STATE HIGHWAY 80 IN THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS; AMENDING THE TRAFFIC REGISTER¡ .PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY¡ REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Guerra moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Cox seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. (Mr. Hart not present to vote on this item). Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 901. 5 OF THE STANDARD BUILDING CODE ADOPTED IN SECTION 5-1 OF THE SAN MARCOS CODE OF ORDINANCES REGARDING THE TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION IN WHICH AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER EQUIPMENT MUST BE INSTALLED¡ PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; REPEALING ALL CONFLICTING ORDINANCES¡ PROVIDING A PENALTY¡ PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mr. Guerra moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Plummer seconded the motion which passed unanimously. (Mr. Hart not present to vote on this item). f Mr. Guerra asked if there was going to be an additional cost to any business and if it was going to be significant, nominal or minimal. Mr. Patterson stated that there would be some additional costs. Mr. Patterson stated that he had spoken to chief O'Leary and there would be some reduced cost in infrastructure on the site that relates to the sprinkler system in the building. Mayor Morris asked if the city had been operating under this. Mr. Patterson stated that the new Code was adopted in March 4th and since that time there has been no permit applications that have been of this particular size except Tanger Mall Addition and they had to require sprinkler system. Mayor Morris moved to amend the ordinance to an emergency. Mr. Mooney seconded the motion which passed
