78 <br />Regular Meeting <br />November 9, 1981 <br />78 <br />Page 2 <br />Mayor Craddock opened a public hearing regarding a change of zoning <br />request on Lot 8, Block 2, Lindsey and Harvey Addition, also known <br />as 503 Hopkins and 504 Harvey, requested by Dr. James Tidwell. Dr. <br />Tidwell spoke in favor of the zoning request indicating he wanted <br />to put in a restaurant business at this location. No one else wished <br />to speak in favor or against the zoning change, so Mayor Craddock <br />closed the public hearing. The Zoning Ordinance was then considered <br />by the Council on first reading, the caption which was read as fol- <br />lows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED SEPTEMBER <br />29, 1980 (VOL. 54) BY ZONING LOT NO. EIGHT (8) IN <br />BLOCK NO. TWO (2) OF THE LINDSEY AND HARVEY ADDI- <br />TION, A/K/A 503 HOPKINS AND 504 HARVEY, FROM "D" <br />(MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT) TO "C" (COMMERCIAL <br />DISTRICT). <br />Mrs. Norris moved to approve the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. <br />Kreczmer seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Craddock opened a public hearing regarding a change of zoning <br />request on Lot 6, Block 3, Carroll and Hofheinz Addition, also known <br />as 1533 Belvin, requested by Richard Contreras. Mr. Contreras spoke <br />in favor of the zoning request, to change the zoning to duplex zoning. <br />No one else wished to speak in favor or against the zoning request, <br />so Mayor Craddock closed the public hearing. The Zoning Ordinance was <br />then considered by the Council on first reading, the caption which was <br />read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE <br />OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, DATED SEPTEMBER <br />29, 1980 (VOL. 54) BY ZONING LOT NO. SIX (6) IN BLOCK <br />NO. THREE (3) OF THE CARROLL AND HOFHEINZ ADDITION, <br />A/K/A 1533 BELVIN, FROM "R-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING <br />DISTRICT) TO "R-2" (DUPLEX OR TWO-FAMILY DWELLING DIS- <br />TRICT). <br />After some discussion, Staff was directed to see if right-of-way was <br />needed on Belvin Street. Mrs. Norris moved that the Zoning Ordinance <br />be approved on first reading and Mrs. Mendez seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br />n <br />i <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock opened a public hearing regarding a change of zoning <br />request on 62.07 acres out of the J. M. Veramendi League No. 2 and <br />a portion of Lot 8 of the Shadrach Dixon Subdivision. Mr. Ron Carroll <br />of Krazkopf-Carroll Associates, representing Clovis Barker and Garland <br />Warren, owners of the property, stated they were requesting zoning of <br />commercial and light industrial for this property. No one else wished <br />to speak in favor or against the Zoning Ordinance, so Mayor Craddock <br />closed the public hearing.
