the permit. <br />Sec. 27-15. Vehicles-equipment and maintenance. <br />Any vehicle operated pursuant to the terms of this <br />ordinance shall be inspected as required by state law. <br />An inspection shall occur during the month a vehicle <br />is converted to use as a taxi. <br />Sec. 27-16. Condition of vehicles. <br />Every vehicle operating under this ordinance shall be <br />kept clean and in sanitary condition. <br />Sec. 27-17. Designation of taxi. <br />Each taxicab shall bear on the outside of each rear <br />door, in conspicuous, painted letters, readable by a person <br />with normal vision at twenty feet,' the name of the owner; <br />and in addition may bear an approved identifying design <br />of the same size. No design shall be approved which in <br />the opinion of city shall conflict with or imitate that of <br />any vehicle already operating under a certificate granted <br />pursuant to the terms of this ordinance. <br />Sec. 27-18. Odometer Required. <br />An odometer is required for each vehicle operated <br />pursuant to the terms of this ordinance. The odometer <br />shall be inspected yearly by the City of San Marcos <br />department of public safety to ensure proper calibration. <br />Sec. 27-19. Rates of fare-rate card required. <br />(1) Every holder of a certificate of public convenience <br />and necessity issued pursuant to this ordinance shall <br />file a statement of the rates charge' by taxicabs <br />operated pursuant to said certificate with the city <br />secretary of the City of San Marcos. <br />(2) Every taxicab operated under this ordinance shall <br />have a rate card setting forth the rates of fare <br />displayed in such a place as to be in view of all <br />passengers. Said rate card shall correspond to <br />the rates on file pursuant to the requirement of (1). <br />Sec. 27-20. Refusal of passenger to pay legal fare. <br />It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to pay <br />the legal fare of any of the vehicles operated pursuant <br />to this ordinance after having hired the same, and it <br />shall be unlawful for any person to hire any vehicle <br />herein defined with the intent to defraud the person from <br />whom it is hired of the value of such service. <br />Sec. 27-21. Solicitation of business. <br />It shall be unlawful for any driver of any taxicab <br />to drive or cruise about on the streets of the city seek- <br />ing passengers who have not theretofore ordered or called <br />for a taxicab. <br />W
