SECTION 203.2 OVERLAND FLOW AND NATURAL DRAINAGE CRITERIA <br />Under Sectibn E.2.d, Construction Plans <br />A. Natural drainage patterns shall be preserved whenever possible and <br />the loss of the pervious character of the soil should be limited in <br />order to prevent erosion and attenuate the harm of contaminants <br />collected and transported by storm water. Erosion prevention tech- <br />niques as referenced in "Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance for <br />Developing Areas in Texas" shall be utilized to obtain drainage <br />objectives for channelization and overland flow. The use of streets <br />and street rights-of-way as the central drainage network shall be <br />avoided whenever practical. Drainage swales and other areas used <br />for conveying storm water runoff from developed areas shall be lo- <br />cated to avoid sinkholes, faults and fractures to the greatest extent <br />practicable. <br />B. Construction of enclosed storm sewers and impervious channel linings <br />shall be permitted only when the Director of Public Works on the <br />basis of competent engineering evidence concludes that such storm <br />sewers or impervious linings are the only justifiable option avail- <br />able. In the event that storm water drainage systems and/or culverts <br />are necessary, such systems shall be designed to mitigate their im- <br />pact on water quality through the use of approved control strategies <br />to control sediment and dissipate energy. <br />SECTION 203.3 VELOCITY ATTENUATION AND SURFACE DRAINAGE CHANNEL CRITERIA <br />Under Section E.2.d, Storm Drainage <br />A. All drainage channels on the site shall be designed to minimize po- <br />tential erosion. <br />B. All constructed and altered drainage channels shall be stabilized <br />and vegetated immediately after final grading. <br />C. Runoff volume and velocity after construction shall be equal to or <br />less than the site's runoff prior to construction. <br />M
