WILLIAMS <br />DATE: APRIL 69 2009 <br />RE: TAXI SERVICES <br />Only two taxicab services currently operate in San Marcos. <br />Corridor Cab <br />(512) 392-2222 <br />Principle: Jason Grote <br />Current insurance on file with the city <br />Operates two cabs at any given time. <br />Current hours: 7:00 a.m. to Y2 to 1 hour after bar close each day <br />(Intends to operate later if bar close times move to 2:00 a.m.) <br />Hays Taxi <br />(512) 665-0048 <br />Principle: Robert Rubio <br />Current insurance on file with the city <br />Operates one 6-passenger van <br />Current hours: 6:00 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday <br />6:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday <br />(Intends to operate until at least 2:00 a.m. if bar close time is extended) <br />The current city ordinance regulating taxicabs was written in 1970 and has not been revised. <br />1. There is no mention of regulation or limitation of fees. <br />2. The ordinance specifically prohibits taxicabs from driving around looking for fares who have <br />not called for a taxicab. <br />3. Taxicabs are only required to be available from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through <br />Friday. They can work longer if they chose, but there is no requirement. <br />4. The Council may suspend or revoke a license issued under the ordinance. The process <br />must be initiated by the chief of police, but the process is not well-defined. <br />The City Ordinance on taxicabs is attached.
