ORDINANCE 2009 - 22 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />• MARCOS, TEXAS AMENDING DIVISION 3, MINORITY TOURISM <br />DEVELOPMENT BOARD OF CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE <br />SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE DUTIES AND <br />PROCEDURES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. The City no longer contracts with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the expenditure of <br />Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds that would be used to promote the hotel industry through the <br />promotion of minority tourism. <br />2. In the past, the Minority Tourism Development Board by virtue of its establishing ordinance <br />had oversight authority over the City's contract with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. <br />3. The City desires to continue the promotion of minority tourism throughout the City, and <br />further desires to have the Minority Tourism Development Board continue its oversight over the <br />promotion of minority tourism. <br />4. In order to further the goal of promoting minority tourism, the City Council of the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, finds that it is in the best interest of the City to change the ordinance governing <br />the Minority Tourism Development Board to allow the Board to have a direct ability to use <br />• budgeted Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds for the promotion of minority tourism throughout the <br />City. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 2, Division 3 of the San Marcos City Code is amended as follows <br />(underlining indicates added text, strikethrough indicates deleted text: <br />Sec. 2.111. Created; composition; terms; officers. <br />(a) The minority tourism development board is created, composed of seven voting members <br />appointed by the city council; <br />desig-tiee, the San Nlafeas Consolidated <br />Lx > <br />(b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following <br />groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board who represent the following <br />categories: <br />i.
