Page Two:
a City curfew be set up for everyone under the age of 17,
(with juvenile crime, we have come to believe that the
majority are committed after 11:00 p.m. In response to
this, the Commission is submitting two curfew plans
along with support data compiled by Justice of the Peace
Macel Sullivan.
*SEE ATTACHMENT C
4. TREATMENT FACILITY
The Commission thinks there are two key reasons this
program should be supported.
a. Currently, there are no treatment programs for
addicted adolescents in San Marcos or Hays County.
We provide prevention and early intervention; but
do not operate a treatment program. Partnership for
a Drug Free San Marcos is prevention oriented and
is not funded to provide direct services. Kids who
need in-patient or out-patient chemical dependency
treatment are being sent to Austin, San Antonio and
other sites away from the community.
b. Many families do not have the insurance or monetary
resources to pay for chemical dependency treatment.
The proposed program will not turn anyone away.
The Commission recommends that the Council strongly
support this endeavor and coordinate support systems with
P.D.A.P. staff. San Marcos definitely needs this.
5. D-FY-IT
The Commission recommends that the Council look into one
of the programs created to curb drug use among teenagers.
D-FY-IT is based on rewards, not punishment. It is a
program administered by and for students with the
guidance of adult advisors.
We recommend that the program be set up and ready to go
for the new school year and that we start in Lamar Middle
School. We also recommend that the Hays Co. Drug Task
Force provide drug forfeiture funds to pay for the drug
screening costs of the D-FY-IT programs.
Police Department. 401 East Hopkins.
