Morris and City Council Members <br />From: Charter Review Commission <br />Subject: Report of the 1991 City Charter Review Commission <br />Date: January 8, 1992 <br />The Charter Review Commission, after a series of ten meetings, has <br />concluded its biennial review of the San Marcos City Charter and <br />offers the following recommendations for amendments to the City <br />Charter. Shawdowing indicates added language and overstrikes <br />indicate deleted language. <br />1. Amend Section 2.01 as follows: <br /> Sec. 2.01. General. <br /> The city shall be a home rule city, with full power of local <br /> self-government, including the right to amend this charter, as <br /> provided by the constitution and laws of this state. It shall <br /> have and may exercise all the powers granted to IÞmgM»I:~@ <br /> cities by the constitution or laws of Texas lncïuãrñg <br /> opecifically thooepoyero made availablc to citieo of more <br /> than 5,000 inhabitanto by \ihát io known ao the home rule <br /> amendment to the conotitution of Texao (Article XI, Cection 5) <br /> and the home rule enabling act (Chapter 13, Title 28 of the <br /> Reviocd civil statuteD of the state of Texao, 1925), as .~i <br /> now i!~~~ or IË~ hereafter amended. <br /> . .. <br />This is a housekeeping measure to delete specific references to <br />State law in favor of more general references.
