<br /> CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br /> BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS SURVEY <br /> March 1992 <br />1) Name of Board: Library Board <br /> <br />2) Estimate the number of hours your staff spends preparing for and <br /> staffing this board. <br /> About six hours per month. <br />3) Please list the amount and types of information normally contained in <br /> board or commission agenda packets. <br /> --minutes of previous meeting <br /> --monthly statistical performance report <br /> --calendar of upcoming programs and events <br /> --special reports <br /> --budget information <br />4) What types of issues are most commonly dealt with by the board? <br /> --decisions about the new library building <br /> --establishment of library fees and policies <br /> --budget issues <br /> --state legislative issues <br /> --censorship issues <br />5) Does this board continue to have a viable role related to its cha rge or <br /> are there any duties that could be easily handled at the staff level? <br /> Duties could be handled by staff, however an important source <br /> of community input would be lost if we did not have the board <br /> available to us. <br /> Also the board meetings provide a systematic and regular forum <br /> for the staff to reflect on our goals, achievements, and problems. <br />6) Would the addition of these duties require more staff hours or personnel <br /> changes? <br /> No. <br />
