Does this bo:J.rd or commission continue tG have a vi:J.ble role rcl:J.tcd to its
ch:J.rge or :J.re there any duties that could be easily handled :J.t the st:llï
level? Plc:J.se be specific.

The Pl:1nning Commission plays a critical role in meeting its charge under State law and the City
Charter. The only function which could be delegated to staff is the administrative approval of
"minor plats". Section 212.0065 of the Local Government Code allows the City to delegate the
approval of minor plats (involving four or fewer lots and no new streets or utilities) to a designated'
staff member. The plat would only be sent to the Planning Commission if the staff member denied
the applicant's request. Since State law provides for this administrative approval process, it would
be a matter of amending our ordinance to allow that change.

6. Would the :J.ddition of these duties require more s¡:¡ff hours or personnel
changes?

The administrative approval of minor plats would save the staffs and the applicant's time since no
Commission report or meeting would be required. The Planning Commission and the City
Council could set any "administrative guidelines" that they desire to ensure the fair and consistent
administration of the minor plat process.

This Commission is staffed bv the Pl;:,nninn ::\nrt T1øvølrmmont ~or"i,..o~ nOI'\~rtm"nt
