<br />106 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting November 9, 1992 Page 7 <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced a discussion regarding locating the Tourist <br />Information Center at the intersection of IH35 and Riverside on city <br />property. Jan Hardin of the CVB stated there was no urgency for <br />them to relocate, and they would like to have Jose Gil with CVB <br />funds do a Master Plan and thought it would be good to have an <br />interpretive center th~re also. Mayor Morris stated it would be <br />appropriate to have the River Foundation involved as well. Mr. <br />Gilley stated since this is city parkland, the city needs to lead <br />this process and have the other organizations assist. Mr. Cobb <br />stated the City must show to Parks and wildlife how this project <br />will tie into. use as parkland. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced a discussion regarding the co-management of <br />Thompson's Island with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. Mr. <br />Gilley advised the Council this will be a state Park consisting of <br />6.115 acres. The state has requested the city mow, clean and police <br />the area. It would mainly be used as a day park, with a canoe <br />launch and picnic tables with no night activities. All facilities <br />would be built and maintained by Texas Parks and wildlife, and they <br />would agree to the City's 11:00 p.m. curfew (as in other City <br />parks). Mr. Gilley stated the financial and manpower impact would <br />be minimal. staff was directed to prepare an agreement for <br />co-management. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the city Manager's Report. ~ Mr. Gilley <br />advised the Council he has accepted the resignation of Chief Tom <br />Martin, who will become Chief of Police for the city of Grapevine. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the city Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor <br />advised the Council the Sierra Club lawsuit will go to trial <br />November 16 in Midland. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the city Council's Report. (1) Mayor <br />Morris stated the city had good meetings with Moody's and Standard <br />and Poor's in New York regarding the city's bond rating.
