Lisa Mendoza <br />and Nikki Montondon presented a slide presentation of the San Marcos <br />High School Band trip to Washington¡ D.C. and thanked the City <br />Council for their support. Ron Jager stated several senior citizens <br />were present during the budget meeting last week and are ågain <br />present tonight to indicate they have needs¡ as well as the youth¡ <br />and have not been included in the decisions made regarding the <br />church¡s future. Judy Brackett stated the senior citizens need a <br />place to congregate and H. Y. Price donated the church building for <br />that purpose. Jack Chaney did not wish to speak at this time. Dr. <br />Martin O. Juel stated San Marcos needs a center for senior citizens <br />only¡ and does not feel a combined facility for youth and seniors <br />would work. Dr. Juel read a Resolution to the City Council into the <br />record¡ which is attached to these minutes. Mayor Morris encouraged. <br />Dr. Juel and others to meet with the City Council and Staff to see <br />if we can work something out for a place for seniors. Ms. Brackett <br />asked the Council if the church could be used by both seniors and <br />youth until such time as the activity center is built. Mayor Morris <br />responded the church is unsafe and does not meet City codes. Hector <br />! B. Mende~ requested the City delay their decision regarding the <br />¡ church building until a workshop can be held. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced for consideration three appointments to the <br />Charter Review Commission. Mr. Moore moved to appoint Chris <br />Banberry¡ Mr. Hernandez moved to appoint Elana Martinez and Mr. <br />Guerra moved to appoint Earl Moseley¡ which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />* Mr. Moore present at 7:35 p.m. and Mr. Cox not present at this <br />meeting. <br />
