City Council Meeting Minutes April 5, 2016 <br />Quarterly Investment and Financial Reports. <br />6:00 P <br />V. 30 Minute Citizen Comment Period <br />Breanna Burton, spoke on behalf of Psi Kappa Alpha, introduced the sororities <br />president and golden member present in the audience. She spoke about the <br />letter writing campaign they will be conducting regarding the issue of <br />childhood hunger and its eradication. She notified the Council that they will be <br />lobbying for additional federal funding that would provide assistance to <br />families that have the need to access to food during the summer while their <br />children are out of school. She asked the Council would please participate in <br />the letter writing campaign. <br />Linda Coker, spoke about the Lindsey Hill Project and her opposition to the <br />project. She praised the beautiful historic district that we have in San Marcos. <br />She stated that we are at a unique point where we don't have to accept the first <br />offer. She would like everyone to step back and breathe. <br />Cathy Dillon, addressed the Council and stated that San Marcos has one of the <br />largest intact historic districts. She stated that she is passionately opposed to <br />the Lindsey Hill Project. <br />Marianne Moore, addressed the Council in opposition of the Lindsey Hill <br />Project. She stated that she knows that growth and change are inevitable, but <br />we need to be careful with projects like this. '1"his project is surrounded on 3 <br />sides by historic districts and this will negatively impact the homes in this area. <br />.Toe Ptak, addressed the Council on Item #27. He recalled the performances <br />that were held at the underwater theater at Aquarena Springs and asked that <br />the Council approve the use of the Mermaid as a city icon. <br />Dianne Wassenich, addressed the Council and provided a compliment from a <br />previous citizen about the TCEQ Award that was recently received by the City <br />of San Marcos. She also spoke about the 1 pager on flood histories that she <br />provides to the Council. You are getting ready to have these flood recovery <br />meetings and these floods can be much greater. She showed the Council a map <br />explaining why our river is clear. She stated that we need to think about future <br />flooding and prepare. <br />Ty Stonecipher, addressed the Council about the Lindsey Hill Project. He <br />City of San Marcos Page 2 <br />
