143 Regular Meeting June 27, 1994 Page 2 Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of four appointments to the Cemetery Commission. Mayor Morris moved to reappoint Lenora Giesen, reappoint Ofelia Vasquez-Philo, reappoint Mildred Leggit and appoint Gladys V. Thomas, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of six appointments to the Commission for Women. Mayor Morris moved to reappoint Diana Arredondo, appoint Mary Maness and appoint Martha Tatum, Mr. Moore moved to appoint Susan Tilka, and Mr. Mooney moved to appoint Linda Coker, which passed unanimously. The remaining appointment will be rescheduled at the next meeting. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of three appointments to the Commission for Minorities. Mayor Morris moved to reappoint Roland Saucedo, reappoint Linda Kindred and appoint Judy Mazak, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval of three appointments to the Ethics Review Commission. Mayor Morris moved to reappoint Frank Fuller, Mr. Moore moved to appoint Michael Nowicki, and Mr. Cox moved to appoint Roxanne McKimmey, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration approval ~f seven appointments to the Sunset Advisory Committee. Mr. Moore moved to appoint James E. Scott, Mr. Mooney moved to appoint Beth Morrissett, and Mr. Cox moved to appoint John Anderson, which passed unanimously. The remaining appointments will be rescheduled at the next meeting. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING LOT 12, BLOCK 1 OF THE FAIRLAWN ADDITION, LOCATED AT 1901 PECAN STREET, FROM IR-1" (SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT [LOW DENSITY]) TO I1MR" (MOBILE HOME AND RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT) AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. Mayor Morris opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. No one did, so Mayor Morris closed the public hearing. Mr. Cox moved for adoption of the Zoning Ordinance and Mr. Moore seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration an addendum, adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE CITY BUDGET ORDINANCE FOR THE 1993-1994 FISCAL YEAR TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS AND OVERLAY OF PORTIONS OF HUTCHISON, EDWARD GARY AND SAN ANTONIO STREETS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Mr. Moore moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. Cox seconded the motion. Mr. Gilley advised there would be $153,000.00 of street rehabilitation by the street crew to streets that underwent water main repairs. The street will have the existing surface, a layer of crushed rock with two inches of hot mix overlay. In order for this to happen adequate base material must be in place. Mr. Moore advised the County presently has a machine that crushes material. The Council voted unanimously for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency. Mayor Morris introduced for consideration a public hearing and approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CHANGING THE NAME OF HAYS STREET AND HAYS COUNTY ROAD 299 TO CAPE ROAD BETWEEN HIGHWAY 123 AND RIVER ROAD; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
