Hernandez moved to appoint James Bolton, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of a board appointment to the Human <br />Development Commission. There were no nominees. _'Mayor >tiloore requested this appointment <br />be placed on the next Council agenda. <br />Mayor tiloore introduced for consideration approval of a board appointment to the Historic <br />Preservation Commission. Ms. Hughson moved to appoint Jeff Kester, which passed <br />unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of a board appointment to the Housing <br />Authority Board. Mr. Guerra moved to appoint Kimberley Wright, which passed unanimously. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of two board appointments to the <br />Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Hernandez moved to appoint Elizabeth Ferguson, which <br />passed unanimously. ivlr. ;tilihalkanin stated he would defer his appointment until the next <br />meeting. <br />Mayor tiloore introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDNANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 14, BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS, <br />OF THE SAN MARCOS CITY CODE TO PROVIDE FOR RENEWAL OF CITY <br />MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR LICENSES FOR A DEFINED TEVIE PERIOD; <br />INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />1,Ir. Guerra moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Hart seconded the <br />motion. _Is. Hughson asked if this would affect people currently licensed with the city. Mr. <br />Taylor stated everyone will be asked to complete a renewal license application. The Council <br />then voted unanimously for approval of the Ordinance on first reading. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption <br />which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDNANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, ADDING TWO POLICE OFFICER POSITIONS EN THE POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT N ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 2.373 OF THE SAN MARCOS <br />CITY CODE AND SECTION 143.021 OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE; <br />AMENDING THE TABLE OF POLICE POSITIONS i?IANTAINED N THE CITY <br />SECRETARY'S OFFICE TO REFLECT THIS RECLASSIFICATION; AMENDING <br />THE 1996-1997 BUDGET TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL POLICE <br />VEHICLES; AND INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS. <br />iVlr. Huffman <br />explained that was correct and the 550,000 requested was salary savings from vacancy positions <br />bls. Hughson asked if we could get by with one vehicle. Ms. Huffman stated the take home <br />program needs two vehicles. tilr. Guerra stated the two positions would need ongoing salary <br />expenses and asked what those are in question. tits. Huffman stated the two salaries including <br />benefits would cost the City from 560,000 to 570,000.
