City Council Meeting Minutes July 29,2016 <br /> 20. Proposal to set the 2016 tax rate at a maximum of 53.02 cents per $100 valuation, <br /> which is the same rate adopted in 2015, which is higher than the effective tax rate. <br /> 21. Discuss adoption of City Council goals. <br /> 22. Fiscal Year 2016-2017 Budget follow-up and hold discussion regarding matters <br /> related to the budget. <br /> The Council received Staff briefings and held discussion regarding items on the <br /> agenda for August 2, 2016 Regular City Council Meeting, to wit Items (3-22). <br /> Item #14-Council provided direction to Staff to hold a workshop on Monday, <br /> August 1 to allow for Council to ask HEB questions about their project. <br /> Item #15 - Staff will update the travel demand maps to clarify that "future" is <br /> 2023. <br /> Item #16-Discussion was held regarding flood plain development <br /> Item #17 - Staff will send the architect meeting summary to the Council. <br /> III. Question and Answer Session with Press and Public. <br /> Lisa Marie Coppoletta, asked if we had considered buying the land for Item <br /> #14 for parkland. Mayor Pro Tern Thomaides responded, No. She asked is we <br /> will? Mayor Pro Tem Thomaides responded, no, not at this time. She also <br /> asked about native american artifacts and shovel testing on the site. HEB <br /> responded that they have been working with their consultants. She also asked <br /> if the Council received the traffic analysis that the Planning and Zoning <br /> Commission received. Laurie Moyer,Director of Engineering, confirmed that <br /> they had. She also asked if we had changed the bus schedule. Deputy Mayor <br /> Pro Tem Prewitt stated that it was changed over a year and a half ago. <br /> IV.
