Mayor Moore stated Richard Cruz and Kimberly Wright were willing to be <br />reconsidered for appointment and would like to nominate them. Mr. Guerra nominated <br />James Velasquez. The following vote was recorded: <br />CRUZ: Guerra, Cox, Hernandez, Mihalkanin, Hughson, Hart, Moore <br />VELASQUEZ: Guerra, Cox, Hernandez, Hughson, Hart <br />WRIGHT: Mihalkanin, Moore <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Planning & <br />Zoning Commission. Ms. Hughson moved to nominate Bob Mooney and Mr. Hart moved <br />to nominate Charlotte Endsley. The following vote was recorded: <br />ENDSLEY: Hernandez, Mihalkanin, Hart, Moore <br />MOONEY Cox, Hughson, Guerra <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of two appointments to the 1997 Blue <br />Ribbon Bond Committee (Temporary). Mr. Hernandez nominated Gilbert Gomez. The <br />Council voted unanimously to approve Mr. Gomez. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning <br />Ordinance, the caption of which was read as follows: <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF <br />THE CITY BY REZONING A 41.15 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY <br />LOCATED OFF WONDER WORLD DRIVE FROM "PD" PRE- <br />DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT TO "C" COMMERCIAL DISTRICT; <br />INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />PENALTIES. <br />Mayor Moore opened the public hearing and asked if anyone wished to speak. Ms. <br />Bridgett Alexander stated that she was speaking in place of Andrew Gary and would <br />answer any questions. There were no additional speakers so Mayor Moore closed the <br />public hearing. Mr. Guerra asked if the blank area in the map which was given to the <br />Council was representing the transportation system the University uses and would the rest <br />be included in the zoning area requested. Ms. Alexander stated it would be the three <br />tracts. Mr. Guerra stated the way Wonder World is constructed now if anything was built <br />in the future this would cause a traffic flow problem. Mr. Gilley stated he believes it is <br />designed to be able to handle it in a conditional capacity. Ms. Alexander stated if they <br />continue to own the property additional right-of-way would not be a problem.
