City Council Meeting Minutes October 18,2016 <br /> Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 8:24 p.m. <br /> There being no comments, the Mayor closed the Public Hearing at 8:24 p.m. <br /> A motion was made by Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, seconded by Mayor <br /> Pro-Tern Thomaides, to approve Ordinance 2016-46, on the first of two <br /> readings. The motion carried by the following vote: <br /> For: 7- Mayor Guerrero, Mayor Pro-Tern Thomaides, Council Member Prather, Deputy <br /> Mayor Pro Tern Prewitt, Council Member Hughson, Council Member Derrick and <br /> Council Member Gregson <br /> Against: 0 <br /> 18. 7:00PM Receive a Staff presentation and hold a Public Hearing to receive comments <br /> for or against Resolution 2016-147R, approving the issuance of a permit to My Ride <br /> TX, LLC d/b/a My Ride ATX to operate a Transportation Network Company in the City <br /> of San Marcos; and consider approval of Resolution 2016-147R; and declaring an <br /> effective date. <br /> Jamie Lee Case provided a brief update to Council of the Transportation <br /> Network Company's application. <br /> Mayor Guerrero opened the Public Hearing at 8:26 p.m. <br /> Steve Wright, 3405 Serene Hills Ct, Lakeway, TX, spoke to the Council about <br /> why they wanted to start this ride share company and that they wanted to <br /> require the utmost safety measures before operating. Each applicant will be <br /> interviewed face to face, will have to pass a drug screen and will also have <br /> random drug screenings as well. They will not have surge pricing like other <br /> companies. <br /> There being no further comments,the Mayor closed the Public Hearing at 8:28 <br /> p.m. <br /> Main Motion: A motion was made by Council Member Derrick, seconded by <br /> Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Prewitt, to approve Resolution 2016-147R. <br /> Motion to Amend: A motion was made by Council Member Hughson, seconded <br /> by Council Member Gregson, to amend Resolution 2016-147R by including the <br /> revisions that were voluntarily provided by the applicant as follows: 1. The <br /> company shall require background checks, fingerprinting, and drug testing of <br /> all of its drivers. <br /> 2. The company shall not engage in surge pricing.
