<br />155 <br />Regular Meeting October 27, 1997 Page 5 <br />TEXAS, AMENDING CITY CODE SECTION 2.481 TO ESTABLISH A FEE TO BE <br />CHARGED BY THE CITY SECRETARY'S OFFICE FOR PERFORMING <br />SEARCHES OF VITAL STATISTICS RECORDS; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL <br />PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTÅ’S. <br />Adoption of Resolutions: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AMENDING A RESOLUTION ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 8, 1997, <br />WHICH APPOINTED JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES FOR THE JOINT <br />SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1997; AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF A COMPROMISE, <br />SETTLEMENT AND RELEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND <br />CHRISTOPHER JETT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />AGREEMENT OF BEHALF OF THE CITY; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />Mayor Moore introduced Item 9.c.(1), removed from the consent agenda, adoption of a <br />Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPROVING A SOCIAL SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY <br />AND HAYS COUNTY REGARDING THE PROVISION OF LIBRARY SERVICES; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Mr. Hernandez moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Guerra seconded the motion. Mr. <br />Guerra asked if this was the same contract as in the past and Mr. Gilley stated that was correct. <br />Mayor Moore stated the Redwood area is also interested in contracting Library Services for <br />Guadalupe County. Mr. Gilley stated the City is in the process of working on a contract proposal <br />for them. Mayor Moore also stated he would contact Mayor Stausenburger to see if they were <br />interested in using the Library. The Council then voted unanimously for adoption of the <br />Resolution. <br />Mayor Moore introduced for consideration Item 9.c.(3), removed for the consent agenda, <br />adoption of a Resolution, the caption which was read as follows: <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE <br />TEXAS TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE FUND BOARD; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH <br />REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION AND DECLARING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Ms. Hughson moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion. <br />Ms. Hughson asked the estimated cost of this project. Mr. Gilley stated we did not precisely <br />know what that amount would be at this time; however, the City is working to try to accomplish <br />that figure. Ms. Brown stated this program would roughly cost $770.00 a month but the City is <br />applying for a state grant as well which would be approximately 80% funding. Mr. Guerra stated <br />his concern with certain activities that can be accessed by children on the Internet. Ms. <br />Langenkamp stated we can not filter out certain sites; however, most parents approve what <br />children access. She stated the computer will be mostly in public locations in the library and will <br />be monitored closely.
