Mr. Mihalkanin moved to reappoint Eugene Rios and Mr. Cox moved to reappoint Cathy Lara, which passed unanimously. Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of one appointment to the Housing Authority Board. Mayor Moore stated due to a new law, this representative must reside in public housing. The Council requested this appointment be scheduled for the next Council meeting. Mayor Moore introduced for consideration a public hearing and adoption of a Zoning Ordinance, the caption which was read as follows: Ai~ ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AiVŒNDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP OF THE CITY BY REZONING A 10.73 ACRE TRACT OF PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF RIVER ROAD FROM "R-1" SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT (LOW DENSITY) Ai'ID "C' CO:MMERCIAL DISTRICT TO "P" PUBLIC AND INSTITUTIONAL DISTRICT; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. I Mr. Guerra moved to table the Ordinance so the caption could be republished for the first meeting in February, due to the cancellation of the January 13, 1997 Council meeting and Mr. Hart seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Moore introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on first reading, the caption which was read as follows: Ai"\¡' ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 1, GENERAL PROVISIONS BY ADOPTING Ai~ OFFICIAL CITY INSIGNIA; RESTRICTING USE OF THE INSIGNIA TO OFFICIAL CITY PURPOSES; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS AND PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES. Mr. Guerra moved for approval of the Ordinance on first reading and Mr. Hernandez seconded the motion. Mr. Gilley stated this Ordinance was based on the request of various organizations to use the City's logo for their own letterhead. Mr. Taylor stated an Ordinance needs to be in place to regulate the use of the seal. Mr. Guerra stated he regretted various businesses did not get the opportunity to present a seal to the city for review and fdt the Council acted too quickly to accept .- the one idea presented.
